Our Client from Ghana, Africa was successful on their Express Entry Canadian Experience Class (\u201cCEC\u201d) PR Application<\/strong> after they contacted us following the return of her eAPR application. IRCC had informed the Applicant that they were ineligible<\/strong> for the points they received due to an error where 50 points were incorrectly awarded for holding a certificate of qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Removing those 50 points, the Applicant\u2019s score dropped below the range of what was being selected. However, during the review of the Applicant\u2019s initial file, it became apparent that there had been a mistaken interpretation<\/strong> of two questions in the CRS. Because those questions were misinterpreted by the Applicant while she was a self-rep, she missed out on additional points that would have put her over the draw scores (notwithstanding the 50 points given in error).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, there was a challenge with the Applicant\u2019s educational credential that needed to be navigated. The Applicant held a PGWP but was awarded it not for a Master\u2019s Degree but for an entry-to-practice professional degree. The nature of the program was a grey area, but after legal analysis, there were strong grounds to rely on IRCC\u2019s awarding of a PGWP and the program to claim the additional CRS points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Applicant is now able to pursue their professional career in Canada with the peace of mind of permanent resident status and hopefully citizenship shortly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
