One of our clients experienced significant delays due to past driving convictions that may have led to criminal inadmissibility. After a year of no updates, the client consulted with Laura Schemitsch. She identified the potential issue of criminal inadmissibility and prepared a criminal rehabilitation application. Following an Access to Information Request, it was confirmed that the work permit application had been transferred to a criminal assessment unit. In October 2023, Heron Law Offices submitted a detailed rehabilitation application, and it was approved one year later, allowing the client to reunite with their spouse in Canada.
