Guest Lecture for Queen’s University’s Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law

Today, our principal immigration and refugee lawyer, Will Tao, along with articling student Karina Juma, will be delivering a guest lecture to students enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law (GDipICL) at Queen’s University. The focus of their presentation will be on AI and Automation in IRCC Decision-Making.

They will cover the following topics:

  1. Chinook
  2. Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning
  3. How IRCC Uses AI for Various Applications – Best Practices and Pitfalls
  4. Integrity Trends Analysis Tool
  5. The Effects of AI and Automation on Federal Court Cases.

We are expecting approximately 200 students attendees.

Will Tao is a distinguished Canadian immigration lawyer at Heron Law Offices, known for his extensive expertise in navigating complex immigration matters. Karina Juma, Articling Student at Heron Law Offices

Karina Juma is a distinguished graduate in International Affairs and Law, co-author of a book on refugee resettlement, and an advocate for immigration and refugee rights, inspired by her immigrant background and Ismaili Muslim community. 

Published by the University of Ottawa Press in 2022, Karina co-authored a book on refugee resettlement and activism titled Ordinary People, Extraordinary Actions. Her work has also been published in the Canadian Yearbook of Human Rights.
