Our principal lawyer, Will Tao, has been quoted today in the Toronto Star titled Visitors to Canada with valid visas claim they are being pressured to seek asylum upon arriving – or leave. It is behind paywalls.
Will commented that he has seen an increase in cases where visitors are asked to withdraw entry requests or given shorter stays, attributing it to CBSA’s distrust in IRCC’s automated decisions lacking proper officer vetting.
“Vancouver immigration lawyer Wei William (Will) Tao 陶维 Heron Law Offices said he has seen an increase in cases in the past year where visitors are asked to withdraw their entry requests or given a shorter stay than their visas allowed.”
“I have heard from several sources that one of the driving forces behind this is that CBSA has lost trust in some of the decisions made by immigration because they believe these (decisions) are being automated without officers properly vetting it.”
