Hello everyone! I’m Edris Arib, and I’m thrilled to be back with the Heron Law Offices family as Director of Case Management and Client Strategy.
In February 2021, Will Tao and I co-founded Heron Law Offices with a vision to do law differently. As we mentioned in our open letter at the time, we wanted to create a law firm that would not just solve legal problems but build meaningful relationships with our clients and communities. Heron was born out of a desire to offer compassionate, client-centred legal services that reflect the diverse and often complex needs of those seeking immigration, citizenship, and refugee law support.
Before founding Heron, I had the privilege of working in several legal and advisory roles that shaped my approach to law and policy. I served as a Legal Counselor for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), a Senior Legal Advisor for the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL), as a Policy and Advocacy Consultant for Transparency International in Berlin, and as a legal assistant at Edelmann & Co. Law Offices in Vancouver. These roles deepened my understanding of legal challenges faced by vulnerable populations, particularly those coming from conflict zones and post-conflict regions.
At Heron Law Offices, I oversee case management operations, manage client strategies, and support our legal team. I’m also directly involved in managing a range of legal matters, from judicial reviews to immigration issues, ensuring we provide the responsive, compassionate service our clients deserve. I’m also passionate about improving our firm’s internal processes and helping foster a culture of growth, learning, and collaboration.
Currently, I am in the final year of my doctoral studies at the University of Erfurt. My academic research explores grand corruption in the public sector across countries and regions by studying the role of political parties and anti-corruption agencies.
I am grateful to Will and the Heron Law Offices team for the opportunity to return to the firm, and I look forward to working with our clients and team to continue building a culture of excellence, client-centred service, and impactful legal work.
Outside of work, I am driven by my family. I’m a proud parent of two children, a daughter and a son, who inspire me every day with their curiosity, energy, and joy. My personal philosophy, like many of you, revolves around continuous growth, both professionally and personally, and finding balance through time with my loved ones.
