Our principal lawyer, Will Tao, has been extensively cited in a recent article AI Governance on the Ground: Canada’s Algorithmic Impact Assessment Process and Algorithm has Evolved authored by Kate Kye, Deputy Director of World Privacy Forum, and edited by Pam Dixon Executive Director of World Privacy Forum.

This article cited Will’s extensive work on the impact of artificial intelligence on Canadian immigration and policy. Will, along with other immigration lawyers like Mario D. Bellissimo, has been investigating the use and impact of automated and AI-based decision support tools by IRCC. Will noted that these tools influence crucial decisions about immigration case risk, work eligibility, and family separation.
