Our Principal lawyer, Will Tao, was recently quoted in the Hill Times discussing ATIP delays being the norm. Will said that

“The real-life impact for immigrant applicants is a dealy in understanding why their files are taking so long, and if they should file judicial review or mandamus to force IRCC to move their application”.

Below is a PDF version of the Hill Times titled CBSA’s access-to-information woes continue with 12,000 requests inaccessible, requestors encouraged to resubmit on May 8, 2024.

Will also mentioned on his X(Twitter) post that, during the interview with the Hill Times, Will has noted some improvement with IRCC’s ATIPs recently. His concern now is more on CBSA’s processes of requesting IDs and limiting the scope of research ATIPs by institutional design (discussed with the journalist, but not published). Also not published but discussed with journalist, Will thinks that the new portals IRCC is working on might improve things if they are transparent with what they copy and paste from GCMS.
